When we talk about breaking the cycle of poverty we have to look at breaking it for the long term. Showing up for one month at a time every now and then would be like handing a village a toothbrush and a bottle of toothpaste and saying ‘enjoy a lifetime of minty fresh breath’. Chiropractic is no different, the nervous system is consistently faced with an influx of Thoughts Traumas and Toxins which all compromise the body’s ability to run at it’s optimal potential.
So I show up for a year and that is to some extent long term progress, but it is not changing lives for years to come. Then one day in a board meeting John says, ‘why don’t we look into setting up a scholarship program for a young ambitious African student?’ This was a thought that I initially scoffed at, but with a few conversations and some meetings with people around Palmer and in the community I quickly realized that this was indeed a VERY doable project. Thus we are now in the first few stages of identifying logistics and funds.
This is no small task we understand that, however if we can bring a student to America, educate them to become a doctor, with the condition that they go back to Madagascar after graduation, now we are cooking with oil. Now we truly are spreading Chiropractic, and Bringing Wellness to the World! There is more on this topic coming very soon, but stay tuned as we at the Journey are all very excited about the future and the scholarship program.
