When I started my personal journey into Chiropractic and the health care field it was met with many questions. Commonly there was ‘How on earth did you decide on Chiropractic?’. ‘You are a Nuclear Engineer and you want to be a back cracker now?’ was a routine one from my Mom. The favorite of all questions surfaced when I was speaking with a friend of mine at her apartment about my ‘grand plans’ for the future and she said ‘Can you describe WHO it is you are in three words?’.

At this point in my life I had done some soul searching and I gave her two words, today I cannot recall what they were, but I do remember struggling to place the third and final word. It then hit me that these three words will always change. They will change based on just about anything from the weather to your health or the people you are surrounded with at the time. My ‘three words’ became only one word and that word is ‘dynamic’.

I don’t mean the John Madden in your face BOOM dynamic, however more about the dynamics that exist in life. Everyday there are ebbs and flows that we all get stuck in or ride with, this is life. What is it that defines us? I would argue that is is more in HOW we react to the ebbs and flows in life that define us, than the physical nature of WHAT we are.

I would invite each of you to explore the different dynamics of your life and look at how you think you are defined. Have you put any constraints on who you are and what your goals are in life? What is it that defines you? Is there any one word or three words? Please feel free to leave a comment with your thought.
