We have incorporated as Wellness International Missions, Inc., doing business as Journey to Solidarity. And we are in process of obtaining our non-profit status. This is tremendous news! It means we can officially accept donations. Here is how it works:
Our attorney tells me that once we are incorporated we can officially accept donations. WHEN we get our notice from the IRS that our non-profit status has been accepted, all donations can be tax-deductible, back to the date of incorporation, which was October 28.
There is a small chance we won’t get non-profit status, but we are doing everything possible to make sure our application is accepted. It might take six months or so for the IRS approval, after we file. There is a lot to do before we file, but we are working on it.
If you donate, either with a check or with an in-kind donation of equipment or other products, we will send you an acknowledgment letter which you can use for your taxes.
