Our Mission statement: To facilitate healthy lives and fellowship within communities throughout the world through conservative healthcare, education and Chiropractic.
What? Journey to Solidarity is a talented and diverse team of individuals who share a passion for helping people and working together. The primary goal of the team is to bring and share chiropractic as a profession and healing art with communities of need. There is a common goal to create better lives and social solidarity throughout the world without demanding money to those we serve or by being political. The project was originally started by a Chiropractor, Dr. Jay Breitlow, who has a vision to share the best and most natural form of healthcare with the world, while creating long lasting social ties to communities of need. Journey to Solidarity is a public 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.
Currently the Journey to Solidarity team is accepting donations and people with a desire to serve humanity. As this is not merely a Chiropractic initiative, people are welcome to participate from all walks of life, irrespective of their background. The idea being that we each have our own unique talents and strengths that we can, if we choose, share with the world. Dr. Jay lives in Africa, a continent with millions of people and very few chiropractors. Feb 2009 he was to become the first ever licensed Chiropractor in the country of Madagascar but violence on the ground has delayed the start of that mission. In lieu of traveling to Madagascar, J2S located contacts and an area of need in West Africa in the country of Ghana. Ghana is historically politically stable, English speaking and still very much in need as the average GDP per person is under $1000USD.
A major emphasis is placed on helping children who have been born into a life of poverty, especially those with HIV/AIDS. In dealing with HIV+ children, there is a definitive need to restore health, which is where Chiropractic specifically enters.
The research available that details Chiropractic and HIV/AIDS is very limited, yet it is our hypothesis that the neuro-immune response will be very strong. We are so excited with this idea that Dr. Jay will be working with an orphanage in the Kpando area of Ghana in early Fall of 2009. The research and studies of the time there will be published for further exploration in the profession.
We are looking forward to growing Chiropractic by facilitating young students so that they can come to school and get an education and return to their home country. This includes student liaison programs, cultural acclimation as well as financial assistance to the students who are accepted into the Chiropractic Program in the US.
Where? As of February 2009 Jay serves in the capital city of Ghana, Accra and is moving to the Northeast to the Kpando area to live and work with orphaned children born wiht HIV/AIDS. However new destinations are open to all parts of the world where there is need.
Who? Team members are dedicated individuals throughout the world who want to donate their time, goods, services or money. Most people choose to donate their unique talents from home by helping fund The Journey to Solidarity, or by overseeing the logistics. The team is currently seeking anyone with unique talents and big hearts. Anyone from health care professionals, Chiropractors, nurses, to ministers, to plumbers, or to those just have intentions to donate their time, but are unable to travel so they help by sending money.
Why? There is need in the world and we have the resources necessary to make a difference to tens of thousands of people across the globe if we pool our talents together.
